Getting To Know Your Menus and Functions
Getting to know your camera and its menu and functions can seem daunting. Your camera's manual usually is small in size, and a little confusing. One of the best ways to "see" your cameras settings, menus, and features, is by looking at one of two sites for infomation on your specific digital camera.
Steves Digicams and DPReview are incredible sources for really seeing what your cameras setting are, and what they do.
Many people only think these sites are for reviewing to purchase, but they offer so much more. These sites include large pictures, with well laid out explainations of your menus, settings and detailed easy to understand explaination of everything on your camera.
These two sites are my first stop to getting to know my camera AFTER purchase. (Ok, before I purchase as well).
For example.... IF I had just purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. I would go to steves-digicams.com and search for my new camera and see if they had an article and information (click here for example camera info). Steves Digicams 'has a new layout, which has the info on the camera on the left hand side. As you can see from my arrows, they have plently of information on the Features and Controls, Record Modes, and Playback Modes. Each will have photos and explainations as shown below.
Here is an example of one of there very helpful animated photos from Steves Digicams Record Mode explainations:
