Digital Point and Shoot Photography Course
This 4 hour course provides an introduction to the capabilities of digital cameras and an explanation of how to set them up and use them to meet your photography needs. No prior digital photography experience is necessary. If you have a digital camera, or our thinking about the purchase of one, this class will provide you with information and techniques to understand the features of your digital camera.
Topics Include:
- Getting comfortable with your digital camera
- The meaning of Mega-pixels and resolution
- How digital cameras capture and store information
- File formats (JPEG, TIFF, RAW) and understanding compression
- How to set the camera for a properly exposed image
- How to best control image clarity and sharpness
- Using the camera menus - white balance, contrast control, auto exposure, bracketing, auto focus, etc
- How to store and organize images on your computer
What to Bring:
If you already own a digital camera, it is a good idea to bring it with you. As the instructor discusses camera features or menu settings, you can see if they are available on your camera and learn how to set them. Other useful items to have on hand at the class are an extra battery, a memory card and your instruction manual.
